Indian provides malathoin to help Afghan farmers fight locusts

KABUL (Pajhwok): India has provided 40,000 litres of malathion to support Afghan farmers fight locusts, an official said on Sunday.

Atiqullah Muslim, an official of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, said Indian malathion support worth 40 million afs. It has 40,000 litres of liquid which could be sprayed on 7,000 hectares of land.

He said this support had been sent by the Indian government on the behalf of its people.

He said malathion would be dispatched to farmers in Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Samangan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Sar-i-Pul, Badghis, Faryab and Herat provinces.

Muslim asked other organisations to provide support to Afghan farmers.
