KABUL (Pajhwok): Moscow says the Russian embassy is in contact with Afghan authorities on the crash of a jet in northeastern Badakhshan province.
The private business jet Falcon 10B, disappeared from radars late on Saturday. However, Afghan officials said the plane had crashed, with four people aboard surviving the incident,
TASS quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman as saying: “Our embassy in Afghanistan is in touch with the local side.”
She said contact was established immediately after a request was received from Rosaviatsiya (the Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport).
“We are grateful to the Afghan side for help provided in the search operation,” the spokesperson added.
The aircraft lost communication and vanished from radars over the Afghan-Tajik border. Six people, including two Russians, were aboard the jet flying from Thailand to Moscow.
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on his Twitter handle: “The plane reported missing … has been located in the Aruz Koh area of Kuf Ab district.”
He said the pilot had been found by the IEA search group. The pilot among four individuals, who survived the incident.
Earlier, the Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation (MOTCA) said two people had been killed in the crash and four others survived the incident.
