KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) has established a fumigation centre at the industrial park in Kabul, an official said on Wednesday.
Fumigation is a method of pest control or the removal of harmful microorganism by completely filling an area with gaseous pesticides, or fumigants, to suffocate or poison the pests within.
It is used to control pests in buildings (structural fumigation), soil, grain and types of produce. It is also used in the processing of goods for import or export to prevent the transfer of exotic organisms.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maulvi Sadr-i-Azam Usmani told the inaugural ceremony: “The security has been ensured across the country so businesspeople and private sector should provide better services to the people.”
He also spoke about framing a policy to facilitate investments in the MoAIL. “By devising a comprehensive procedure,, we can provide opportunities for investors and businesspeople.”
Usmani added: “We can overcome barriers and irregularities and pave the way for investments in the agricultural and other sectors.”
Meanwhile, Eng Attiqullah Muslim, an official of this ministry, hoped agricultural exports would surge with standard and quality products.
