KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) says it will educate 3,600,000 individuals on the explosive ordnance risk.
In a post on X, UNICEF said: “Afghanistan is one of the most weapons-contaminated countries in the world.”
“In 2024, UNICEF aims to reach 3,600,000 children and community members with explosive ordnance risk education, so they know how to prevent injuries and death from explosive remnants of war.”
OCHA previously said that the fight against mine hazards in Afghanistan is severely lacking in funds, and in the last two years, the budget for mine clearance was reduced by half, leading to a 40 percent reduction in the demining workforce.
