Afghan cricket squad lands in Sri Lankan capital

KABUL (Pajhwok): The national team has arrived in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, for an all-format series, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said.

Syed Naseem Sadat, spokesman for ACB, told Pajhwok Afghan News the squad left the United Arab Emirates for Sri Lanka, where they landed in Colombo late Tuesday night.

He said the Afghan team would start preparations for a one-off Test, which is scheduled to commence on Friday at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo.

During Afghanistan’s tour of Sri Lanka, the two sides will play their maiden Test, a three-match ODI series and three T20Is.

The Test will be followed by the ODI series, which starts on February 9, and the T20Is will get underway from February 17.
