PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s top court has ordered the issuance of Pakistan-origin cards to two Afghan spouses of women from Peshawar.
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) issued the directives on separate writ petitions filed by the Pakistani women (sisters) married to Afghan men (brothers).
The petitions, seeking Pakistan-origin cards for the two Afghan nationals, were heard by Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Shakeel Ahmad.
The petitioner’s counsel, Tariq Afghan Advocate, said his clients — Shahida Bibi and Tasleem Bibi — had married Islamuddin and Ikramuddin.
The couples, having five and six children respectively, were encountering problems in getting identification documents.
In an identical case, Tariq Afghan said, a larger PHC bench had ordered relevant officials to give relief to Pakistani women married to Afghans.
The bench directed the authorities concerned to facilitate the women seeking the issuance of the Pakistan origin cards for their husbands.
