Afghan, Uzbek officials discuss trade, border issues

Afghan, Uzbek officials discuss trade, border issues

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Defence Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid and a high-ranking Uzbek delegation have discussed strengthening bilateral ties, border issues and transit cooperation.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) wrote on its X handle Mujahid met Abdul Salam Azizov, chief of Uzbekistan’s Intelligence and border affairs, and the delegation accompanying him.

The ministry said both side talked about border issues, enhanced bilateral relations, fostering economic and transit cooperation.

The defence minister said: “We have made significant efforts to beef up our borders and we are determined to continue strengthening them.”

He assured the Uzbek delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s (IEA) cooperation on implementation of development projects and investments.

The Uzbek delegates affirmed their commitment to strengthening relations with the IEA and supporting Afghanistan’s people.
