KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) has announced inking three contracts worth more than two billion afghanis with private firms.

In line with one of the contracts, parking and waiting facilities will be created at the Kabul International Airport.

According to the acting minister of transportation and civil aviation, the two other agreements are related to a park at the Aqina Port in Faryab and a terminal in Herat.

With the execution of the projects, Hamidullah Akhundzada hoped, transport services would witness significant improvement.

Concerted efforts were being made to transform  Afghanistan into a regional connectivity hub, the minister told reporters here on Wednesday.

MoTCA says 3,000 people will get job opportunities with the implementation of the projects. Work on the schemes is expected to begin soon.
