FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Poppy crop has been destroyed on 28 acres of land in Bakwa, Khaki Safid, Bala Buluk and Farahrud districts of western Farah province, police said on Sunday.

The police headquarters in a statement said security forces destroyed poppy crops in Bala Buluk, Farahrud, Khaki Safid and Bakwa districts during an ongoing poppy eradication campaign.

The police said they had arrested 20 people for cultivating the banned crop on their lands and they would be handover to judicial authorities.

The statement also said security forces seized and destroyed 15,120kg of different types of narcotics in Bakwa district.

The seven-day campaign would continue for another two days in the province.
