KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA) on Monday announced organizing a national labor conference to address unemployment in the country, asking people to come up with plans and proposals in this regard.
The ministry in a press release said it held maiden consultation meeting on holding the national labor conference.
Deputy minister of labor and social affairs Maulvi Mohammad Zahid Jan Agha on the occasion said his ministry was determined to hold the national labor conference next year.
He said the conference was aimed at providing employment opportunities and reducing the unemployment rate.
He said foreign and domestic investment should be attracted, close coordination should be established with the private sector and unemployment problem addressed in real terms.
He asked the people to share their plans, suggestions and advice with the ministry regarding the conference.
MoLSA labor inspection head Maulvi Rahimullah Sirah said Afghanistan had just come out of the crisis.
“Unemployment needs to be addressed seriously. Currently, security and stability are ensured across the country. Therefore, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs wants to organize a national labor conference to address the problem of unemployment and to create jobs.”
The ministry said consultation meetings would continue with government institutions, private sector and labor societies and unions.
It said academic, legal figures and government functionaries would be invited to the conference to share their thoughts.
