TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Dozens of domestic and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have executed various development projects worth more than 35 million US dollars over the past one year in central Uruzgan province.
Uruzgan governor Maulvi Mohammad Ali Jan met with representatives of NGOs in his office on Monday.
The governor said the projects were executed in education, health, reconstruction, agriculture, humanitarian assistance and some other sectors.
He asked the representatives to pay attention to education and health sectors next year.
He added people in some areas still lacked access to education and health facilities.
Meanwhile, Maulvi Muladad Hasan, Uruzgan economy department head, said that 33 domestic and international organizations were functioning in this province and were providing services to the people in cooperation with the private sector.
He said these organizations had implemented various schemes worth more than 35 million US dollars during the past one year in the province.
He also said the NGOs had carried out projects worth 35.17 million US dollars last year, benefiting about 150,000 farmers. He assured the NGOs of all kind of cooperation.
