PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakhtun nationalist political figure Mohsin Dawar was wounded in a gun attack in North Waziristan district on Saturday.
Local officials said Dawar came under attack in Miran Shah, where his supporters were staging a protest against inordinate delay in announcement if election results.
Police opened fire gunshots and tear gas during the demonstration, protesters told reporters at the site. They confirmed the ex-lawmaker was wounded in the gunfire.
Besides Dawar, the National Democratic Movement (NDM) chairman, at least three of his supporters were also injured in the incident.
The injured were evacuated to a local hospital, where doctors and medics were not immediately available.
Dawar contested from the NA-40 constituency in North Waziristan for a seat in the National Assembly in the Feb general election.
During his election campaign last month, Dawar's convoy had come under attack in the Tappi village of North Waziristan.
