KABUL (Pajhwok): A special control room to be equipped with advanced equipment for better control and monitoring of customs affairs is being constructed in Kabul at a cost of 17.5 million afghanis.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) wrote on its X handle: “The General Directorate of Customs has started the construction of a special control room to be equipped with advanced equipment for better control and monitoring of all customs affairs of the country.”

The ministry said all customs offices in the country would be connected with the control room through advanced cameras and all important affairs would be closely monitored from this room in Kabul.

It added modern electronic devices and advanced cameras would be installed in the control room that would take eight months to complete by a private firm.

With activation of this modern control room, more transparency and speed will be created in customs affairs and smuggling and revenue evasion will also be prevented and there will be a significant increase in the customs revenue, the ministry concluded.
