Afghanistan cultivate, produce more cotton this year

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock says this year cotton cultivated on 93,630 hectares of land which produced 122,455 tonnes of yield.

In a statement the ministry said last year cotton was cultivated on 54,869 hectares of land which produced 72,493 tonnes of yield.

According to the statement this year there was increase in the cotton yield comparing to the past year.

Helmand, Balkh, Takhar, Nangarhar and Kandahar were the provinces where most of the cotton was cultivated.

In Helmand cotton was cultivated on 49,075 hectares of land which produced 69,687 tonnes of yield.
