Uruzgan man dies in karez while trying to rescue child

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): A 65-year-old man died after he tried to rescue a child who fell in a karez tunnel l in Khas Uruzgan district of central Uruzgan province, an official said on Saturday.

Police spokesman Bilal Uruzgani told Pajhwok Afghan News the child fell in a karez water system in Firoz area of the district on Friday.

He said Ibrar, 65, wanted to rescue the child, but the tunnel collapsed on him and he died.

He added the child was alive and was in stable condition.
