BAMYAN/NEILI/FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Roads in central Bamyan, Daikundi provinces and 12 district of northeastern Badakhshan province have been reopened for traffic after being closed by snowfall.
Bamyan Public Works Director Eng. Hafizullah Nemati told Pajhwok Afghan News that roads to districts had been shut for all kinds of traffic for 24 hours due to a heavy storm and snowfall.
He said the Bamyan-Kabul route from Hajigak and Sheibar, Bamyan-Daikundi, Yakawalang-Panjab, Waras-Behsud, Aq Rabat and Bamyan city routes have been reopened for all kinds of traffic.
After the snowfall, these routes had been shut for all kinds of traffic.
Governor spokesman Sayed Ghazanfar Kazimi said the Kotal Qonaq, Khadir, Eshterli and Kiti routes had been reopened for traffic.
Badakhshan public works director Iftikhar Ahmad Makhdoomzada said heavy snowfall had blocked roads in 12 districts and the roads were cleared of snow by snow clearing teams of his department.
He said now people could travel to Faizabad, the provincial capital, and vice versa and there was no threat to them.
