KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has affirmed its commitment to supporting Afghanistan and constructive dialogue with the caretaker government on various issues.
The OIC special envoy attended the meeting of special envoys on Afghanistan in Doha under the auspices of UN Secretary-GeneralAntonio Guterres.
The largest Islamic bloc wrote on its X handle Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet participated in the meeting held in Doha on 18-19 February.
Bakheet affirmed the commitment of OIC to supporting Afghanistan and constructive dialogue with the interim government on issues and topics included in relevant resolutions of the Council of Foreign Ministers.
He reviewed OIC efforts in providing humanitarian assistance, sending scholars’ delegations and holding a conference on women's rights in Islam, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The envoy stressed the situation in Afghanistan would be on the agenda of the upcoming Islamic Summit in Gambia and the Council of Foreign Ministers in Cameroon.
On the sidelines of the conference, Ambassador Tarig held several meetings with a number of special envoys to Afghanistan.
