JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Education Department officials say new 26 buildings for schools were built, 53 repaired and boundary walls for 16 schools constructed during the past one year in eastern Nangarhar province.

Nangarhar Education Director Mufti Habib Hazrat Haqqani told a press conference here that 7,500 new teachers had been appointed since the regime change in 2021 to address the issue of their shortage.

He said the issue of imaginary teachers and students had been done away with.

In order to resolve lack of school buildings, the education director said they constructed new buildings for 26 schools, rehabilitated 53 school buildings and built boundary walls for 16 schools last year.

The shortage of textbooks has almost been resolved and this year 4.5 million new books arrived in Nangarhar.
