SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): The textbooks distribution process in northern Sar-i-Pul province has started and 75 percent shortage issue  had been addressed, an official said on Tuesday.

Education Department Head Mawlavi Mohammad Rahmani told Pajhwok Afghan News there was 98 percent shortage of textbooks in the province.

He said UNICEF last year supported the printing of 400,000 textbooks and this year over 200,000 textbooks.

He said these textbooks were from class one to 12th.

He said: “With the distribution of these books, 75 percent of school students will have books and we will have the shortage of 25 percent of books, the Ministry of Education is trying to solve this problem, today we actually started the distribution process.”

In Sar-i-Pul, 180,914 students are imparted education in 311 state run schools.
