Bennett presents report on Afghanistan human rights

KABUL (Pajhwok): UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan Richard Bennett will present his report on Afghanistan to the 55th session of the Human Rights Council today (Thursday).

Bennett wrote on his X handle: “The presentation of my @SR_Afghanistan report on the human rights situation in #Afghanistan will now begin today at 16:00 CET 19:30 Afghanistan.”

Representatives of Afghanistan would also participate in this meeting.

However, caretaker government’s chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the issue of human rights in Afghanistan was being misused.

He published a video clip on his X handle and quoted a resident of Gaza as saying: “Richard Bennet and other westerners should end human rights abuses. Truly support human rights and stop Israel’s cruelty and brutality.”

The 55th session of the Human Rights Council kicked off on Monday, February 26, and will continue until April 5.
