Army rescues 50 people trapped in snow in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Military personnel rescued 50 people who were stuck in heavy snow in Pachiragam district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Maulvi Wahidullah Mohammadi, 201st Khalid bin Walid Military Corps spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 50 individuals comprising seven families got stranded in heavy snow in Agam Tangi area of the district.

According to him, women and children were among those stranded. He added the forces of the 1st Border Brigade rescued these people on time and moved them to safer places.

Mohammadi also said that following an order from the Ministry of Defence, the air forces delivered food items to 30 families trapped in snow in Ghaziabad district of Kunar province.

He said they delivered flour, rice, blankets and basic food items to the stranded people.
