Kunduz electricity revenue goes up by 48 percent

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The power utility in northern Kunduz province says it has collected more than one billion afghanis from its consumers during the past 11 months – 48 percent up compared to the previous years’ returns.

Mohammad Sadiq Amin, an official of Da Breshna Shirkat in Kunduz, linked the increase in revenue to serious action against defaulters, reforming non-standard networks and extending electricity to areas that lacked the facility.

He said the power utility collected 1.52 billion afghanis in revenue compared to more than 710 million last year.

Meanwhile, residents want the government to provide electricity to all areas.

Ziauddin Ziyarmel, a resident of Kunduz, says: "There are still some areas in Kunduz that need electricity, we ask DABS to provide electricity to remote areas.”

Heshmatullah Abid, another resident, says: "We are very happy that electricity bills are collected in a transparent manner."
