JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Police destroyed poppy crop on 22 acres of land during the past 24 hours in ten districts of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.
Police spokesman Abdul Basir Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News the illicit plant was destroyed on 22 acres of land during an ongoing poppy eradication campaign in the province.
The banned crop was eradicated in Achin, Sherzad, Chaparhar, Shinwari, Kama, Nazynan, Rotad and Batikot districts.
He said the drive would continue until full eradication of poppies in the province.
So far 175 acres of land has been cleared of poppy since the beginning of the poppy eradication drive in the province.
