Bid to smuggle more than $800,000 to Iran foiled

KABUL (Pajhwok): An attempt at smuggling more than $800,000 to Iran has been thwarted, and a suspect was detained at Abresham port in northwestern Nimroz province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Friday.

In a post on X, the MoI said that the border forces had arrested the man who wanted to smuggle 800,400 US dollars to Iran via this port.

The ministry did not reveal the date of the arrest of this suspect with green backs, but said that security personnel had thwarted the smuggling of hundreds of thousands of foreign currencies and jewelry in the country’s ports before as well.
