PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): As many as 110 ancient sites have been registered in northern Baghlan province during the past two years, an official said on Sunday.
Baghlan Information and Culture director Maulavi Mustafa Hashimi said the heritage sites were registered in 15 districts.
He alleged foreign forces had looted some ancient sites during the past 20 years of war.
Culture and Tourism head Maulavi Izatmir Haqqani asked people to cooperate with the department concerned in protecting heritage sites.
According to officials, previously 25 ancient sites including Surkh Kotal, Chamkla and Shamraq had been registered in the province.
