ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Local officials in northwestern Nimroz province have set alight three tonnes of expired food items and 15 cartons of poor-quality medicines.
Dr. Mohammad Kabir Sarhadi, Nimroz National Food and Drug Authority head, told Pajhwok Afghan News they recently monitored pharmacies and grocery stores in Khashrud and Dalaram districts.
“In two days, we monitored 101 wholesale and retail grocery stores, 21 drugstores, and one hotel and as a result we collected three tons of expired food and 15 cartons of poor-quality medicines.”
According to him, the food items included cakes, biscuits, salty puffs, chips, pasta, and the medicines included serums, tablets for pain relief, multivitamin syrups, etc.
These materials were set on fire in the presence of officials.
