FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Forty health clinics have been have been built during the ongoing solar year in the far-flung areas of the western Ghor province, an official said on Thursday.

Dr. Abdul Sattar Mawafiq, head of the Public Health Department, told a gathering: “This year, we established 40 small health centers in areas where no health facility existed and people still did not have access to health services, so that all patients can be reached properly and people do not have to travel long distances for treatment.”

He said these health clinics had been established in the remote areas of Charsada, Alfaroq, Allah Yar and Pasaband districts, adding that men and women medical staff had been recruited in these facilities to reach out to emergency patients on time.

He added: “We will establish four treatment centers for malnourished patients in the districts of Lal Wa Sarjangal, Taiwarah, Charsada districts and Firozkoh, the provincial capital, so that these patients can be well reached.”

Residents are thrilled about the opening of new health facilities.

Mohammad Alam, a resident of the Charsada district, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “This health center has been very good for us, we used to go to the city with many problems, we had to pay a lot of money, but now it is good, we thank our officials.”

Patients suffering from common diseases are provided treatment here and free of cost medicine is distributed to them.

Critical patients are referred to the Provincial Hospital, he added.

Abdul Basir, a resident of Pasapand district, said before the creation of this health centre people transferred their patients to the provincial hospital but now they will go to the local clinic for treatment.

He said: “We used to take our patients to the center bearing a lot of problems and expenses, now it is very good, we want them to pay more attention, develop the center, send trained doctors, bring a lot of medicine.”
