HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Flash floods caused by heavy rains killed five members of a family, hundreds of cattle and washed away thousands of acres of agricultural land and hundreds of residential houses in western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.
Governor’s spokesman Maulavi Nisar Ahmad Elyas told Pajhwok Afghan News five members of a family were killed and two others injured due to heavy rain in Sufi Abad area.
He said thousands acres of agriculture land and 250 to 300 residential houses were destroyed and more than 500 of cattle perished in the floods in districts of the province during the past two days.
207 Al-Farooq Corps personnel rescued people marooned in Kahsan and Rabat Sangi districts, Elyas said.
