Kabul, Tehran discuss route for perishable Afghan exports

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi and an Iranian delegation have discussed boosting Afghanistan’s agriculture sector and establishing a special route for perishable Afghan exports.

Azizi met the Iranian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said in a statement.

It said Iranian’s Special Representative and Ambassador Hassan Kazemi Qomi was also present at the meeting.

The two sides discussed enhancing and balancing bilateral trade, Afghanistan’s transit goods, development of the agriculture sector and establishing a special route for Afghanistan’s perishable exports.

The two sides also conferred on the construction of a new customs office in Nimroz province, the statement added.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar had led a delegation to Iran.

He had discussed bilateral relations, transit, transportation and other issues with Iranian officials.
