KABUL (Pajhwok): The recent snow spell and cold snap have killed 60 people and injured 23 others in the current month nationwide, the State Ministry for Natural Disaster Management said on Thursday.
About 177,000 animals were also killed and more than 1,000 houses partially damaged or completely destroyed during the wet spell, the ministry said.
Mullah Janan, spokesman for the ministry, confirmed in a video clip the casualties and ravages resulting from heavy snowfall and cold weather.
He said the ministry had distributed food, non-food and cash assistance to 22,415 families with the cooperation of international organisations. The distribution of assistance is still ongoing.
