JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Torkham crossing has reopened only for cancer patients after four days of closure, an official said on Thursday.

Afghan and Pakistani officials agreed to allow patients to travel across the Durand Line without passports and visas.

Sediqullah Qurashi, an official of the Information and Culture Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News previously all patients were allowed to travel.

However, he said, the Pakistan side was currently allowing only cancer patients to travel without passports and visas.

He explained the patients who had six-month cancer cards could travel to Pakistan through the Torkham crossing.

Due to the closure of the key route, many people suffering from cancer had faced problems and were asking officials on both sides to alleviate their plight.
