KABUL (Pajhwok): Twenty-one people were killed and left 38 others wounded in a collision in southern Helmand province on Sunday morning.
Local officials say 11 of the injured are struggling for life. The accident happened on the Herat-Kandahar highway.
According to the Information and Culture Department, the crash took place in the Yakhchal locality of Greshk district.
A passenger bus ploughed into an oiltanker after hitting a motorbike, igniting a fire on both vehicles.
Sixteen passengers travelling in the bus were killed, a statement from the Information Department said in a statement.
Two motorcyclists and three individuals in the oil tanker also lost their lives. The injured were evacuated to hospitals in Greshk and Lashkargah, the provincial capital.
