Imran Khan condemns Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): Incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan has condemned Pakistan’s recent airstrikes inside Afghanistan’s soil, seeing Islamabad’s foreign policy failure behind the deterioration of relations between the two countries.

The leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf political party told journalists in prison that terrorist incidents could increase in Pakistan if relations with Afghanistan deteriorated

He also claimed the government of Afghanistan had assured him of assistance in solving the issue of the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), but the government under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif did not pay attention to Afghanistan and thus talks with the Pakistani Taliban failed and the people of Pakistan were now seeing the pain.

Khan said deteriorated relations with all neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, indicated the failure of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

A few days ago, Pakistani jets carried out airstrikes in some areas of Afghanistan, inflicting casualties on civilians. The Afghan forces also fired heavy weapons targeting Pakistani military posts in retaliation.
