Kabul denounces assault on concert hall near Moscow

KABUL (Pajhwok): The interim Afghan government has condemned an overnight terrorist attack” at a concert hall nearMoscow.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the attack as what he called a blatant violation of all human standards.

In the terror assault on Friday night, gunmen opened indiscriminate fire at concertgoers, killing at least 60 people and wounding 145 others. ISIS (Daesh)claimed responsibility for the attack.

Balkhi wrote on X: “Daesh, which has targeted civilians in Afghanistan & other regions as well, has once again demonstrated it is a group playing in the hands of intelligence agencies … ”

He asked regional countries to take a coordinated, clear and resolute position on incidents directed at regional destabilisation.

The incident also drew denunciation from UN Secretary-General Antonio, the UN Security Council, French President Emmanuel Macron, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and others.
