ATLANTA (Pajhwok): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has condemned the Daesh-claimed suicide attack in Kandahar province, saying terrorism in all its forms is one of the most serious threats to peace and stability in Afghanistan and the world at large.
In a statement drafted by Japan, the powerful UN Security Council vehemently denounced the recent attack in the southern province.
The Kandahar Police Headquarters, in a statement, said the suicide bomber detonated the explosives strapped to his body in front of the New Kabul Bank, killing three civilians and injuring 12 others.
“The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to peace and security in Afghanistan as well as in the world.
“The members of the Security Council underline the need to hold perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice,” the statement read.
On the other hand, the Islamic State -- Daesh -- claimed responsibility for the suicide attack in Kandahar.
