Food & fuel down, gold up in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of Kazakhstani flour, Indian sugar, cooking oil, liquefied gas and diesel declined, but gold went up during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.

Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders’ Association, said the rate of a 49-kilogarm Kazakh flour bag decreased from 1,580afs to 1,550afs, a 49-kilogram bag of Indian sugar from 3,200afs to 3,100afs and a 16-litre bottle of cooking oil from 1,430afs to 1,420afs.

But the price of a 24 kilograms sack of Pakistani rice stayed stable at 2,600afs, a kilogram of African black tea at 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea at 350afs.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at the Dahna-i-Bagh Market, put the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour at 1,600afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice at 2,650afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar at 3,150afs.

A 16-litre bottle of cooking oil accounted for 1,470afs, one kilogram of black tea for 400afs and the same quantity of green tea for 450afs, he added.

Fuel prices

A worker of the Ahmadyar fuel station told Pajhwok Afghan News that one litre of petrol cost 63afs. He said the rate of diesel fell from 62afs to 60afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in the Kalola Pushta area of Kabul, said the price of a kilogram of the commodity came down from 58afs to 55afs.

Gold prices edge up

Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold went up from 4,150afs to 4,200afs and the same amount of Russian variety from 3,100afs to 3,150afs.

Afghani vs. dollars

Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar traded at 71.70 afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 250afs.

Last week, one US dollar accounted for 71.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 250afs.
