PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Education Department in central Logar province says about 1,300 new teachers, including women, were appointed last one year.

Shah Pur Arab, spokesman for the department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 200 of the appointees were women.

He added 780 of them had been appointed to madaris (seminaries) and the rest to regular schools.

With the fresh appointments, the problem of teachers’ shortage had largely been addressed. About 300 more seminary teachers are needed, he explained.

Sediqullah, a teacher in the provincial capital, told Pajhwok the issue of staff shortage had been addressed with the new appointments this academic year.

He asked the Ministry of Education (MoE) to pay special attention to the construction of school buildings in remote areas of the province.

Bismillah, a student of 12th grate at the Hazrat Omar Farooq (RD) School in Pul-i-Alam, is happy that the problem of teachers’ shortage has been resolved.

The Logar Education Department had hired 1,200 teachers, including female, in the solar year 1401 as well.
