HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Three radio stations — Hurriyet, Omid and Shariah –have gone on the air in western Herat province.

Deputy Minister of Information Maulvi Hayatullah Mohajir said at the opening ceremony the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) could not ignore the positive impact of media on improved governance.

The interim government supported the media outlets that operated in accordance with the law and the national interests, he said.

The radio stations would air programmes around the clock and their central offices would be located in Kabul, he explained.
