GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Work on two development projects has been launched in Gardez, the capital city of southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Tuesday.
Mawlavi Syed Nazim Muzamil, the Gardez City mayor, told Pajhwok Afghan News $95,000 worth of projects were the construction of a 170 metres long retaining wall, 750 metres long canal and a culvert.
He said these projects cost $95,000 which would be provided by the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
Halim Gul, a resident of Gardez, was happy with the implementation of development projects and said in the past people faced problems during flash floods but after the construction of the retaining wall and culvert the danger of the flood would decline.
According to officials, this year 50 small and large development schemes would be executed in Gardez which would help reduce most of the public issues.
