Political parties warned against activities from revoked addresses

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has warned against political activities in the country citing the ban on political parties after the takeover of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), a statement said on Friday.

A statement from the MoJ said that political parties had been banned after the takeover of the IEA and a department functional at the ministry for this purpose had been dismissed as well.

“Recently, the officials of a number of political parties that were registered in the Ministry of Justice in the previous administration have taken positions from the addresses of their canceled parties and carried out some activities, the MoJ considered any activity in the name of the party illegal in Afghanistan and warns that in case of repetition of such activities, the violators will be dealt according to the law.”

The statement also said that activities of civil societies had been also banned and only welfare organizations and unions could hold their meetings in line with the Justice Ministry’s rules and regulations.
