10,000 acres usurped agricultural land freed in Baghlan

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Agriculture Department officials in northern Baghlan province say 10,000 acres out of total 25,000 acres of usurped land belonging to the department has been wrested back.

Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Director Mehrabuddin Bilal told Pajhwok Afghan News the Government Land Recovery Commission had identified 25,168.5 acres of agricultural land and 300,000 acres of pastures as state land and efforts were underway to free the rest of land.

He said 10,000 acres of the usurped land had been reclaimed and handed over to farmers.

He said former government officials, illegal armed men and powerful individuals had occupied state land in Dandghori, Doshi, Baghlan-i-Markazi districts and Pul-i-Khumri city

Baghlan residents said they were happy that the government had started efforts at preventing state land usurpation.
