KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) says $3.06 billion is urgently needed in humanitarian aid to support vulnerable Afghans and only six percent of the needed fund has been secured.
OCHA turned to its X handle to appeal the international community to redouble efforts at supporting the Afghan people.
Meanwhile, aid organizations have also been struggling with shortage of funds to continue their activities in Afghanistan.
Earlier, OCHA was forced to stop food aid to 18 million Afghans grappling with hunger and food insecurity due to lack fund.
WFP stopped delivering food and non-food aid to 10 million needy Afghans due to lack of budget in August last year.
The UN had sought more than three billion dollars to continue humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan in 2024.
