NEILI (Pajhwok): Former managing director of Radio Nasim Sultan Ali Jawadi has been released from prison in central Daikundi province.
In September last year, Jawadi had been detained by security forces in Neili, the provincial capital.
A relative told Pajhwok Afghan News Jawadi was released on Saturday in compliance with a decree from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan leadership ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Afghanistan Journalists Centre welcomed his release, saying under the country’s mass media law, journalists were free to do their professional work and should not be threatened or restricted.
Pajhwok tried to contact local officials for comments on the journalist’s release, but to no avail.
