Modern education significant to sustain current system: Umari

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Deputy Interior Minister Mawlavi Mohammad Nabi Umari has stressed the promotion of modern education besides religious education.

Addressing a gathering at the Mechanical Institute in Khost City, the capital of southeastern Khost province, Umari said for the sustainability of the existing system the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) should pay equal attention to modern and religious education.

He said: “If we don’t tolerate each other if we don’t respect each other and don’t feel the need for professionals such as engineers, doctors and only emphasis that I am here sitting on the chair and everything in the country going well, I have the car, I am Mullah Sahib and I am Qari Sahaib this country will not be built and this will be a mistake anyone doing so.”

Some students of the institute told Pajhwok Afghan News that the equipment they were using in their study were old.

Omaidullah Alizai, one of the students of the electric section, told Pajhwok Afghan News they needed modern equipped materials for study.

Himmatullah, the computer science branch student of the institute who created medical software, said if the government facilitated students everyone has the ability to make innovations.

“I did not have money to buy a computer worth 10,000 afs or 15,000 afs and complete this project, I came to the university and used the university computer for two or one hour,” he said.
