KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is all set to hold an emergency meeting to discuss Iran’s attack on Israel today (Sunday), media reports said.
Earlier in the month, at least seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members had been killed in an Israel airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
In retaliation, Iran launched a massive attack with more than 200 drones and missiles on Israel late on Saturday, sparking global concerns about fresh military confrontations in the region.
To assess the situation, the UN Security Council would hold an emergency meeting today (Sunday), the BBC reported.
Requested by Israel’s ambassador to the UN, the meeting will commence at 4:00pm New York time.
