JALALABAD/ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Four people died and two others were injured as a result of flash floods, roof collapse and landslide incidents in eastern Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, officials said on Monday.
Maulvi Saifullah Khalid, Nangarhar’s Natural Disaster Management Department heade, said an eight-year-old child died due to flooding in Chaparhar district on Sunday morning.
An 12-year-old girl lost her life and two people were injured after the roof of their house collapsed in Momand Dara district last night, he added.
According to him, heavy rainfall and floods destroyed some houses and agricultural land in Hesarak, Lalpura, Dur Baba and Momand Dara districts.
Lal Nabi, a Momand Dara resident, asked government to provide aid to the affected people.
The government has sent survey teams to the affected areas to assess the damage and provide emergency aid the needy people.
Separately, two people were killed in Kunar province after a huge rock fell on a house in Watapur district.
Qari Sabitullah Seddiqi, head of Disaster Preparedness Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the rock rolled down a mountain and hit a house and caused it to collapse in Krong area at 11pm last night.
A woman and a child died in the incident, he explained.
Dozens of people have so far been killed in natural disasters that also caused financial losses in the country during last few days,.
