Hekmatyar defends Iran’s onslaught on Israel

KABUL (Pajhwok): Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan leader Gulbadin Hekmatyar has defended Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel as a justified action.

Earlier in the month, at least seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members had been killed in an Israel airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

In retaliation, Iran launched a massive attack with more than 300 drones and missiles on Israel late on Saturday, sparking global concerns about fresh military confrontations in the region.

Hekmatyar wrote on his X handle: “Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel is its inalienable right and responsibility for it lies with Israeli authorities and their supporters.”

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has also justified the unprecedented attack as a legitimate right to self-defence.

“The caretaker government calls on all influential countries to accelerate efforts to stop crimes of the Zionist regime in order to prevent the crisis from spreading further,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
