KABUL (Pajhwok): Recent countrywide rains have increased power generation levels to 1,400 megawatts in Naghlo, Sarobi and Mahipar dams, Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) announced on Monday.
In a statement, the power utility said a spike of 1,360 megawatts had been recorded in the three dams in Kabul over the past 24 hours.
According to the statement, technical staff of the power production department regularly supplied the electricity to the national grid.
The increase in electricity generation comes in the wake of recent widespread rains and surging water levels in Afghanistan’s rivers.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Energy and Water predicted the possibility of flooding and rising river water levels for the next three days in some areas.
