PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Rain-induced flash floods destroyed corps on 150 acres of land in central Logar province in last three days, an official said on Tuesday.
Abdul Basir Shahid, an official of the Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock department, told Pajhwok Afghan News recent flash floods destroyed corps on 150 acres of land in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, Azra and Mohammad Agha districts.
He said dozens of residential houses were partially or completely destroyed in the disaster.
He added the floods also caused financial losses to people of other districts.
Bismullah, an inhabitant of Mohammad Agha district, told Pajhwok recent rains had increased water level in the Logar river and inundated onion, potato and wheat crops on dozens acres of land.
He asked the Department of Agriculture and partner organizations to assist the affected farmers.
Floods had also caused financial losses to the people in other provinces of the country as well.
