TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Residents of central Uruzgan province during a meeting with the provincial governor said the government should reconstruct development projects damaged in recent flash floods.
They called on Governor Maulvi Inayatullah Shuja.
Mohammad Ibrahim, an inhabitant Safidkhar area of Tirinkot city, said the water head in their area, which had been constructed years ago, was destroyed in recent floods. He asked the government to reconstruct it.
He said Charmgar bridge had also been damaged by floods and was about to collapse.
Meanwhile, Syed Karim, a resident of Painawi area of the provincial capital, said the recent flash floods caused financial losses and washed away most bridges in their area. He also asked the government to reconstruct the public welfare projects.
Governor Shuja said flash floods had caused financial losses to the people in the province.
He said four big bridges, 32 canals and 51 water heads had been damaged in the disaster. He added the floods also destroyed corps on 7,500 acres of land.
In addition to financial losses, thirteen people were also killed in the calamity.
